Each of our instructors is knowledgable, experienced, and deeply passionate about photography, nature, and the spectacular locations we offer for workshops. Richard Bernabe

Richard Bernabe has been chasing light in search of dynamic landscape, nature, and outdoor adventure photographs over the past fifteen years. During that time, he has had thousands of images published in magazines, calendars, books, and advertising campaigns from coast to coast.

Regular corporate clients include Patagonia, Orvis, and Costa Del Mar. Publications include Outside, Backpacker, Rock and Ice, National Parks, as well as scores of other national and regional magazines.

His first book, South Carolina Wonder and Light, was published in 2006 by Mountain Trail Press and he is currently shooting for two additional book projects at the moment. Todd Caudle

Todd Caudle has been photographing the natural world, and Colorado in particular, for 30 years. His work has been published in a host of publications, including Sierra Club calendars, Backpacker, Rolling Stone and Shutterbug magazines, as well as on the covers of the Colorado Vacation Guide and the Colorado Springs Visitors’ Guide. He is also the photographer of six books and numerous calendars featuring his home state.

Jim Clark

For the past thirty-two years, Jim Clark has been an award-winning and nationally renowned nature photographer, writer, motivational speaker, and instructor. A contributing editor for Outdoor Photographer magazine, Jim’s articles and images have also appeared in magazines such as Nature’s Best, Defenders, Wildlife Refuge, Wonderful West Virginia, Birders World, Country, Photo Media, and Wild Bird. Other clients have included Nikon, Zeiss, National Wildlife Federation, Nature Conservancy, and FujiFilm. Sponsors have included Lowepro, Bogen Imaging, Zeiss, Hunts Photo, and Fuji Film.

Jim is the author and photographer of three books: West Virginia: The Allegheny Highlands (Westcliffe Publishers), Mountain Memories: An Appalachian Sense of Place (WVU Press) and Between Ocean and Bay: A Celebration of the Eastern Shore (Mountain Trail Press), which is scheduled for release in fall 2008. Jerry Greer

Jerry D. Greer has been photographing our natural world for over twenty years. His work has been published in numerous books, calendars, magazines, and advertising campaigns. A few of his clients include Blue Ridge Country, Mountain Bike, WNC Magazine, Backpacker, Royal Robbins, LL Bean, The Lyndhurst Foundation, Wild South, and The Southern Environmental Law Center, among others. He specializes in conservation and natural history photography.

Bill Lea

Capturing intimate images of wildlife, scenery, wildflowers, and a variety of other natural subjects in “just the right light” has long been the trademark of Bill Lea’s photography. He may best be known for his artistic documentation of deer and bear behavior, the various moods of the Great Smoky Mountains, and southern ecosystems. Photographing in the Smokies since 1975 has afforded this photographer limitless opportunities to observe and record the flora, fauna, and scenery of the region. Bill’s craft reflects his deep appreciation for nature and he communicates his enthusiasm and expertise as a natural history photographer and writer to others through his books, workshops, feature articles and civic presentations. He has been teaching photo workshops at Great Smoky Mountains Institute at Tremont since 1992.

Ian Plant

Ian J. Plant has been photographing the natural world for fifteen years. His work has appeared in a number of books and calendars, as well as national and regional magazines, including National Parks, Blue Ridge Country, Adirondack Life, Wonderful West Virginia, and Chesapeake Life, among others.

Ian has also been profiled and his photography work featured in Outdoor Photographer magazine.

His sixth and most recent book is the critically acclaimed Chesapeake: Bay of Light. An Exploration of the Chesapeake Bay's Wild and Forgotten Places. Ian's work has also appeared in five books of the Wonder and Light series.

Joseph Rossbach

Joseph Rossbach specializes in creating unique images of the American Wilderness with an emphasis on the East Coast from South Carolina to Maine. Joseph has been photographing the natural world for over 12 years and has traveled to the deep canyons of the Southwest to the rugged coasts of New England in search of beautiful and evocative images of the American Wilderness. Joe's work has been published in magazines, calenders, advertising campaigns, web sites, art galleries and books. A few of Joe's clients include Blue Ridge Country Magazine, Digital Camera World, Photo Techniques Magazine, The Potomac News and Mountain Connections Magazine.

Joe also spends a good deal of time speaking and lecturing at regional and local Camera Clubs along the East Coast. Joe also brings a unique flare to his photography by using special techniques to create unique abstract images of common scenes and places. George Stocking

George Stocking is a freelance photographer who has been roaming the American West from Canada to Mexico creating unique imagery for over a decade. His award winning images have graced the covers of such publications as Arizona Highways, Outdoor Photographer, and the Audubon Engagement Calendar. George has also won awards in international competitions such as the Wildlife Photographer of the Year and Nature's Best. Other clients include Backpacker, Sunset, Country, New View (UK), and America West. He has been one of the leading contributors to Arizona Highways magazine, calendars, and books for over a decade.
